Interstate Tracker is free to use. There are no paywalls and no ads, and the app works the same whether you ever send anything back or not.

If it has given you something — a better trip, a route you finally finished — and you enjoy using it, you can return some of that value. The idea comes from Adam Curry and the No Agenda podcast: the show is free, and listeners who get value from it send value back in time, talent, or treasure. Any of the three counts.

Time

Using the app is a contribution on its own. A hobby project needs drivers on real roads, and every trip you record with it is one more.

Beta testers give the most time of all. The Android beta page is how to join.

Talent

Tell me what went wrong, or what the app should do next. Settings has a Report a problem form that sends the details straight to me, and an idea for a feature is just as welcome by email at admin@interstatetracker.com.

Treasure

Money. Give whatever you like. If you use the app and want a number, $2 a month is the one I’d suggest.

Producer credits

Anyone who gives $100 or more, at once or added up over time, is a producer of Interstate Tracker and can have their name on the producer list. Beta testers qualify the same way, for their time and talent. The list goes up on this site once there are names on it, and a name is published only with your consent.
