Getting help

Three ways to report something. All of them reach the person who builds the app.
Report it from the app
Settings, then Problems, then Report a problem. Type what happened and press Send. The report goes with what the phone already knows about itself: the app and Android versions, the phone’s model, which permissions are granted, whether it is signed in, and your last ten trips as summary rows with no coordinates.
A tick box adds the GPS trace of your most recent trip, and it starts off every time the form opens. Tick it when the problem is about a specific drive: a wrong credit or a missing stretch can only be settled by the trace.
Nothing is sent until you press Send, nothing is queued if the send fails, and a report needs no account. Your data lists what a report carries.
Report it from the browser
The web app has Report a problem in its footer. Type what happened and press Send. That report carries your message, which build of the web app you are running, the screen you were on, the size of the window, your theme, whether the browser was online, and the last failure the app hit loading your coverage.
It does not name your account, even when you are logged in, so there is no way to find it again afterwards and no way to delete it on request. It holds nothing about your driving and no trace either, so a wrong credit is still a case for the phone’s form — say the date, the route and the exits and it can be found.
Or email
admin@interstatetracker.com reaches the same place. It is the address for everything: a bug, an idea, a privacy request, a question these pages didn’t answer, or anything neither form has a box for.
What makes a report easy to act on:
- the date and roughly the time of the drive;
- the route and the exits, or the town, where it went wrong;
- what you expected and what you got;
- the two lines under Settings, About — the version and the build.
Common cases
Nothing recorded
The dashboard says “Location access needed” when the location permission is missing. Grant access asks again where Android still allows it; where it doesn’t, Settings has Open app settings for the system page. Adding road by hand and importing GPX work without the permission.
The live card never named a road
It needs several agreeing fixes before it will name a road, and it refreshes every 15 seconds while it is on screen. Before that it says “Matching…”, and it says “Probably I-95” while it is still deciding. If the whole drive passed with nothing, the finished trip is still matched from the trace — check the trip afterwards, and see known limitations.
The trip recorded, but no Interstate miles
The trace matched no Interstate. That is the right answer for a drive that never joined one, and the wrong one if you were on the highway — in which case the trace is what settles it, so report the trip with the box ticked.
The trip ended by itself
A recording ends when the vehicle has stayed inside 200 meters for 10 minutes, or when no fix has arrived for 10 minutes. A long stop, a parking garage or a phone that lost the sky will all do it. Start another trip and both are kept.
No notifications at all
The notification permission is off. Recording and matching still work; what you lose is the banner, the trip result and the achievements. Grant it from Settings, or from the system’s app settings if Android has stopped asking.
The app was killed mid-drive
The points already written are kept. The next launch finishes that trip and labels it “Recording interrupted”, with up to the last minute before the stop missing.
A trip says “Trip not on this phone”
It was recorded on another device and reached this one from your account. Its miles count; its points are on the phone that recorded it.
Nothing is syncing
Sync needs an account and a network, and it runs after a trip rather than during one. The account block in Settings says how many trips are waiting, and Sync now pushes them. Trips recorded before you signed in wait for Upload N trips and nothing else.
A sign-in link or code won’t work
A browser link is good for one use and 15 minutes. Opening it brings up a page with a Log in button, and the link is spent when you press it, not when the page loads. A phone code stops working after 10 minutes or 5 wrong tries. Ask for another — three per address in 15 minutes, which is enough for a bad day and not enough for a flood.
A stretch is credited that you didn’t drive
Report it with the trace. There is no way to remove one stretch on its own: deleting the trip removes everything it credited, including the road you did drive. Coverage is re-derived when the map or the matcher improves, so a fixed matcher can take a wrong credit back.
Something wrong, or missing here? The phone has Settings, Report a problem; email admin@interstatetracker.com either way. Getting help says what to put in it.
